about

In Igbo (Duncan Daniels’ native tribe) “Mmadu” translates to “Person” or “human being.” An activist at heart, Duncan uses his music to shed light on key issues affecting people living in the city of Port Harcourt and its surroundings. Unfortunately, years of unsafe oil manufacturing practices and burning of poisonous substances into the atmosphere in the region has abetted dangerous air quality and a rise in respiratory illness. Duncan has been raising awareness on this issue and is engaged in finding solutions to these problems facing the Niger Delta.

lyrics

My mother told me
Son you gotta live your life
Be the best whatever you try
Learn how to shine your eye oh
Mmadu Mmadu
Dem plenty for my hood oh
Suffer suffer
Na im full up the place
Mmadu Mmadu
Dem Plenty for my hood oh
Even to find food to chop
Is all by his grace
Heaven come save me
Been long I’ve been praying
I tried my best to face it all alone
I’m tired of facing
Pain & depression
I’ll find solution out this hole
Mmadu Mmadu
Dem plenty for my hood oh
Suffer suffer
Na im full up the place
Mmadu Mmadu
Plenty for my hood oh
Even to find food to chop
Is all by his grace
My mother told me
Son you gotta live your life
Be the best whatever you try
Learn how to shine your eye oh
My mother told me
Son you only got one life
Fight for what you believe is right
Always put up a fight
Hmm hmm hmm
Hmm hmm hmm….
People dey suffer
Ordinary air wey we dey breathe
Who dey breath
E dey choke for throat oh
Wahala dey hia
The tin wey I see for area
Oil bunkering don fuck up the place
Mmadu Mmadu
Dem plenty for my hood oh
Suffer suffer
Na im full up the place
Mmadu Mmadu
Dem Plenty for my hood oh
Even to find food to chop
Is all by his grace
My mother told me
Son you gotta live your life
Be the best whatever you try
Learn how to shine your eye oh
My mother told me
Son you only got one life
Fight for what you believe is right
Always put up a fight
